Over the past few weeks, I’ve been able to properly do my beard routine which I had started to skip in the middle of the year. I had planned on jotting stuff down with regards to this way earlier, when i first identified that I am able to do the routine habitually. Buuut, wanted to give more time to set into what my process looks like.

Firstly, I’ll start off by saying that beard oil is extremely crucial. The face does not generate oils for the hair on it’s own, unlike how it works on our heads 1. It is important for the beard to stay moisturized. And even though it’s called beard oil, it works from the skin underneath your beard. I follow a process of “driving” the oil that I use into the pores of my facial skin as much as possible without scalping my beard off. Preferably, don’t use your fingers too much. Fingernails will ruin the texture of the beard hair through micro-cuts. I use a Chicago & Co. Model 14 comb for my beard, and honestly it’s much better than the wooden combs I used last year.

Whenever I wash my beard, with water or shampoo, I will oil it afterwards. Barely takes 5 mins.

While we’re on the subject of beard washing, I wash my beard with a Viking Revolution Beard Wash every few days. If I’ve worked out too much, or have been out of my house for too long and have gotten sweaty, then I will use the beard wash (and also beard conditioner. The one I use is also from Viking Revolution).

Otherwise, twice in 7 days at least i will wash with the shampoo and then condition. Other times, a quick nice water wash has been working out for me.

Post shower, and post oiling, at nights I like to put Dapr. Beard Butter. Butter is more for nourishment of the beard itself, while oil is more for the skin underneath. During the day, I put some Em Woody Oud Beard Balm. Balm helps with having the beard be in a certain shape, kinda. Butter can also help, but again, balm ka kaam hai shape mein rakhna more than butter.
