I had read an article a few months back, that actually made me do what the title suggested. On self-introspection, I realised a few things.
So many of us, myself included, have a very quick first reaction1 to any new information we receive. It could be something simple as xyz person suggesting a change in certain processes to abc person. ABC would instantly think on critiquing the changes suggested.
I think all of us would really benefit by just taking a deep breath, and just quietly processing whatever information we’ve received. Giving it 5-10 minutes to sink in. And then discussing further critiques or commendations or action items.
This may seem like a thing that happens only in professional circumstances, but it happens just as much in family and other social situations.
